I voted for I know some Irish. I had a cupla focal when I was a wee larvae, and I've kept up with practicing, nearly every day. But I'm not yet really solid in my knowledge or ability, though I expect to be within a few years. the missus agreed that when our own larvae hatch from their eggs we'll teach them Irish.  |

Voted for option three. To think, Iv been in school learning Irish since high babies and i still cant construct a sentence - infact 99.9% of it I forget or didnt bother learning. There's something wrong with the educational system. I think Irish should be optional also. All the Irish teachers I have ever had always seem to be strict wankers - it must be something about them. I also went to the Gealteacht* for three weeks in Donegal. Used to get fined 50P if they caught you speaking english. Came back no better than I went, it was just a laugh - but good times. it would come in handy if some spotty little Garda starts throwing his weight around though, could just speak Irish and he wouldnt know what the F is going on ;D My favourite radio station is Radio Na Life - an Irish language radio station. I dont have a clue what they do be talking about - thats why I like it.  |

I agree that the educational system is a fucking wreck but I also think that many Irish people know more Irish than they think. For instance if they went to an Irish class for adult learners they'd prolly remember more and be able to speak it.
There should be more emphasis put on thinking for yourself in schools when it comes to learning but I'm sure the Government are afraid to do that just in case people actually start thinking for themselves.

Only way to learn I can add Gaelgóier(sic) to the poll if you like, I just assumed it was covered under ta gaeilge agam. |
