Comrades.
The Scottish elections are upon us.What are your thoughts on the Scottish Socialist Party v Solidarity. How will the split be seen in votes?
All the Best

Howya Lads, haven't posted in a while now, computer been wrecked. This Scottish election looks very promising, i don't know much about internal Scottish politics but the thought of a possible split from the union would have unbelievable reprecussions. Think of the Ulster Scotts and their arguement for unionism. I also doubt the union would carry on as just carry on as Wales and England, formally at least. This Scottish election has the possibility to realisticly end the Brittish Union. Unionists even recognise it and the them orangeboys are marching their biggoted arses off in Scottland as we speak. Saor Alba!

Interesting indeed. I know a couple of SSP members who are also supporters of SF though. I've often wondered why this is. Are there similarities between the parties at all?

hello
The SSP suffered an acrimonious split with one of the original founders Tommy Sherridan. The News of the World published sex allegations, which he denied, and subsequentlly won £200,000 in damages. This is subject to appeal. This court case forced many to go to court with 4 SSP MSPs testifying, and many SSP members, not in Sherridans favour. However,a Scottish Jury returned the verdict, with many believing that these ordinary members of the public took the chance at "Kicking Murdoch".Tommy Sherridan, with 1 other SSP MSP,split, and formed Solidarity. The SSP was always a platform based party with many diverse left groups including SWP,CWI and others. Many also thought that the SWP,with an anti independence stance, played a disruptive role at times. It will be Friday before the effects are known,I will post back,I am a local council candidate for the SSP. There is no "official" line on SF support,I consider myself a Socialist Republican however have always been reluctant to be too reliant on any particular dogma.
Thank you for the Greeting Comrades.

hello, not very left. They accepted a £500,000 "donation" from Brian Soutar, a homophobic no use piece of,,you get the idea .He owns Stagecoach (Transport Co) with his sister Anne Gloag. His current earnings are estimated @ £50,000 per hour. However, they may hold the key to independence and from within that we Socialists might enforce better change before total change. There is a thought "independence first" let you know on Friday the complete picture comrade.

Cheers. Yeh, sounds like labour, using the disguise of left politics. And how do the SSP feel about lending support in order to gain the chance of independence? A united independence front so to speak.
