Basque guerrillas ETA have vowed to continue attacks on the Spanish state, saying that last year's exploratory peace talks showed there was no point in negotiating with the government. In its first communication since it ended a 14-month ceasefire in June, ETA said a peace process launched by Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero offered no political solutions and sought only the surrender of the armed group. The statement was published in the Basque newspaper Gara. In recent months ETA has taken responsibility for explosions on the Tour de France cycle route, an August car bombing of a Basque police station, the explosion of a motor home in southern Spain in August, and an attack last week in the La Rioja region. www.rte.ie/news/2007/0909/spain.html?rss

Futile, they will get nowhere. Hasnt the provo's campaign thought them anything? Do you think they intend to win by this means, or is this just to scare the Spanish govt into negotiating again? Their campaign isn't exactly impressive is it, and it's a lot less bloody than the Troubles.

It sickens me to think that the real revolutionaries in that movement have not learned from watching what hapened the provos and havent moved away from the same path they took. reformism.
