Leave Welsh home or face consequences

POLICE are investigating an ultimatum by a shadowy republican group calling on the Prince of Wales to leave his newly-acquired Welsh mansion – or face the consequences.
The threats have come from a group calling themselves the Welsh Republican Army which wants him to leave his Llwynywormwood estate, near Llandovery, by December 11 “or become a legitimate target for Republican action.”
It also calls on him to relinquish his claim to the title Prince of Wales.
The previously-unheard-of group’s “army council” have sent the threats in the form of a statement to “Charles Windsor.”
Prince Charles bought Llwynywormwood last year hoping to use it when he and Camilla visited Wales.
But he infuriated many by submitting a planning request to develop the 192-acre estate, including 40 acres of woodland, as holiday lets.

Last night a spokeswoman on behalf of Charles at Clarence House said: “We wouldn’t be able to comment just because of the nature of what it is.”

However police in both North Wales and Dyfed-Powys are taking the threats very seriously and special branch officers have already started an investigation to find out who is behind them.

The statement from the “WRA Council” said: “We, the representatives of the Army Council of the WRA call upon Charles Windsor the English Prince and usurper of the Title Prince of Wales, to vacate his Welsh mansion Llwynywormwood, Myddfai, Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, by December 11th 2007 or become a legitimate target for Republican action.”

It adds: “We further call upon Mr Windsor to relinquish his claim to the title Prince of Wales.

“Failure to accept the terms of this warning will result in the most severe represcusions (sic).”

It is signed “Rebecca, G.A.C., WRA Caerdydd Awst 2007.”

In a footnote, WRA describes itself as a “human rights organisation which specialises in fighting for Cymric freedom, works on behalf of those colonised and condemned for their republican beliefs and promotes liberty for all the people of Cymru/Wales.

Prince Charles’ decision to develop Llwynywormwood as holiday lets were previously criticised by Welsh communities group Cymuned but this is the first time an extremist group has issued threats.

Cymuned’s chief executive Aran Jones said that buy-to-let, particularly for holiday lets, had helped to create a “devastating housing crisis in rural Wales.”

Interesting! There have been a few similar organisations throughout the years I believe, but they never "took off", or never engaged in activity.

Though this "WRA" might turn out to be something less ferocious - like in the case with the "Scottish Liberation Army"(or something along those lines) - which was some kid who got found out by his handwriting.

Would there be much support for such an organisation? I would imagine there would have been alot of support for something like this during the miners strike, seeing as much of the mines were in wales - but now?

I would see this as a good anti-imperialist development from Wales. Any opposition to the British crown is a good thing especially from a country that, in recent years, hasn't seemed to be very vocal about its opposition to imperialism. Although I could be wrong about that.

All power to the working class in Wales. A monarchist target is, indeed, legitimate.

Nationalist militants in terror threat to Charles

POLICE are investigating threats made against Prince Charles by Welsh nationalists.

The militants claim Charles will become a "legitimate target" unless he leaves his new Welsh home.

They also warned him that he will face "the most severe repercussions" if he does not drop the title Prince of Wales.

Yesterday, detectives said they were treating the threats by the Welsh Republican Army seriously.

The group are believed to be a splinter faction of the Free Wales Army, who tried to blow Charles up 38 years ago.

Yesterday's threats were made in a letter sent to a local newspaper in Llandudno.


A deadline of December 11 was set for the prince to leave his estate in Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, which he bought last November.


If he doesn't, he will be a target of "republican action".


The letter goes on: "We further call upon Mr Windsor to relinquish his claim to the title Prince of Wales. Failure to accept the terms of this warning will result in the most severe repercussions."


The letter was signed by "Rebecca". That is believed to be a reference to the 19th century Rebecca Riots which spread across Wales. They were caused by unrest among locals frustrated by English rule.


A police spokesman said "We have begun an investigation."


The WRA are affiliated to the Free Wales Army, who tried to storm Caernarfon Castle in north Wales to stop the investiture of Charles as Prince of Wales in 1969.

Two other activists tried to blow up the royal train which was carrying the prince to the ceremony.

Members of An Lu Kernewek dhe Kenedhlek Liverson (LKKL)
otherwise known as the Cornish National Liberation Army, have contacted the Army Council of the WRA to express Celtic solidarity, saying " we realise how important it is to enjoy close relations with our fellow
Celtic Nations."

So far this Summer, they have carried out operations against Rick Stein's SeaFood restaurant in Padstow where all the windows were smashed causing him to loose a couple of day's business. www.rickstein.com/ .

The CNLA have removed over 14 blood banners (English flags) and verbally warned two visitor sites to remove their blood banners and they complied.

A representative of the CNLA Council stated "Our flag is the Banner of Saint Piran -black with a white cross. How similar it is to your flag of Saint David - our beloved Dewi San!"

Further, they asked in their statement "What native Cornish family can afford to pay £1,200 a square foot for a house - this is the current asking price in Padstow and district? The English have driven us to this and we have much support within our Communities."

The CNLA expressed their dismay with Charles Windsor "We are saddled with the problem of Charles Windsor and his wife as with yourselves. Your imposed Sawsneck Prince is our Duke. They are leeches and drain both our Nations."

The statement ended with expressions of solidarity: "We wish you well and ask for your support in our battles against the English Royal and Commercial over lords!"

The Cornish National Liberation Army

The Cornish National Liberation Army, abbreviated to CNLA, is a militant Cornish nationalist organisation that has threatened to carry out acts of vandalism and arson against commercial targets that it considers to be 'English'.[1]

The CNLA claims to represent a merger of the An Gof (originally founded in 1980 and reformed in 2007) and the Cornish Liberation Army. It claims to receive funding from organisations based in other Celtic nations and Irish groups in the United States, and that some of its members have received training from the Free Wales Army, the Scottish National Liberation Army, and the Irish National Liberation Army, as well as the Provisional Irish Republican Army.

In June 2007, the CNLA issued threats against celebrity chefs Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver, who own restaurants in the area, as well as to customers of these restaurants.[2] A 36-year-old man was later arrested for making the threats. [3]

It has been described by the Cornish political party, Mebyon Kernow as a 'pseudo-terrorist group'.[1] Dick Cole, spokesman for Mebyon Kernow, released a statement to various London papers in an effort to balance the positions adopted by mainstream Cornish political groups.[4]

The group also opposes the flying of the English flag in Cornwall, and has threatened to destroy all English flags in the county.[1]

There is little evidence as to the size of the CNLA other than an August 2007 interview in Cornish World Magazine in which they claim thirty members.[5] Many tabloids, The Sun in particular, have nicknamed the CNLA as the Ooh-Arr-A.

I can't see these groups ever getting large scale support, let alone the power to actually mobilise the masses in support of their objectives. They should probably push their agenda in existing organisations that have some connection to the masses.
