From Yahoo News
WASHINGTON - President Bush on Wednesday acknowledged for the first time that the CIA runs secret prisons overseas and said tough interrogation forced terrorist leaders to reveal plots to attack the United States and its allies. Bush said 14 suspects — including the mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks and architects of the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole and the U.S. Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania — had been turned over to the Defense Department and moved to the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for trial. "This program has been, and remains, one of the most vital tools in our war against the terrorists," Bush said. "Were it not for this program, our intelligence community believes that al-Qaida and its allies would have succeeded in launching another attack against the American homeland." Releasing information declassified just hours earlier, Bush said the capture of one terrorist just months after the Sept. 11 attacks had led to the capture of another and then another, and had revealed planning for attacks using airplanes, car bombs and anthrax. Looks like this is an exercise in making sure the American public unreservedly support the US Government’s terror tactics in order to ‘keep America safe’.
You have to wonder how many innocents are tortured and possibly murdered in these terror prisons.
How many people are currently in Guantanamo bay and how many have been charged with any crime? Some have been there since the start of the Iraq war, I believe, and they have yet to charge anyone. They are also trying to charge them in military courts but at the same time denying them POW status. The US Government are always trying to set up a situation where they are always in a win/ win situation.

I wonder what forced him to admit to it? What did someone have on em?
Someone must've had evidence to prove it or soemthing so he jumped the gun as damage control.
Thoughts?

Another election ploy I presume. Everyone knew this already. Maybe he wants to be seen as a more open and honest scumbag so people will say, 'well at least he tells the truth'. A truthful scumbag is better than a lying scumbag (or so they would see it) and let's face it the only choice the American working people have is another scumbag. The lesser of two evils stunt. He has also used the tragedy of 9/11 to build support for his 'counter'-terrorism machine. Who knows how far he'll go.

I can't believe that there hasn't been outrage at this.

Yeah, I mean isn't it illegal under international law? The US can break the law in order to protect themselves but it's possible that those they imprison (torture and abuse most likely) could well be innocent!
