Anonymous criticism on the internet sometimes passes for political commentary, the RSYM is no exception and has been declared as having Stalinist tendencies on different left-wing websites by those who should perhaps know better. In any case, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
The RSYM fits into neither category on the Trotsky-Stalin debate. We are a multi-tendency organisation proud of the fact we have a membership free to uphold whichever tenet of Marxism as they wish on the basis they also uphold the RSYM’s aims, constitution and programme.
It is clear those who succeeded Stalin in the Soviet Union were not followers of Stalin’s political legacy or thought. The ‘peaceful co-existence’ of Nikita Khrushchev was the antithesis of Stalinism and adherents to Stalin exposed it for the menace that it was. It is inconceivable to have peace between exploiter and exploited. ‘Peaceful co-existence’ denies the dialectical process which dictates confrontation and ultimately victory for the working class.
Stalinism as a term is devoid of meaningful content. It no longer refers to Stalin or those who uphold his politics, but to any individual or organisation who those on the other side of the debate can’t deal with effectively through political argument. It is almost guilt by association and reinforces old Cold War propaganda against the Soviet Union.
The RSYM continues to advance and move forward. We have unity of thought and action. We have confidence in victory.
