I was doing an online virus scan the other day. On the site run by a, supposedly, reputable company. On a map pictured on the site, the company claimed that there were more viruses detected in Ireland (or Europe. Not sure which) than in North America, South America, Africa and Australia put together! I have to say that sounds a little odd seeing as there are less than 6 million people in Ireland and over 300 million in the US not to mention the other countries mentioned. They obviously knew where the computer was, knew the owner of said computer was worried about viruses and are in the business of taking advantage of this.
This, to me, sounds like scare tactics by the, supposedly, reputable company and further enforces my theory that those who create the viruses are the same people who 'cure' the viruses. These companies create business for themselves by attacking people's computers and then selling those people software in order to get rid of the virus. This is holding the public to ransom and they are making a great profit from all of this. This is a perfect example of Capitalism.
DON'T BUY ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE. They are attacking you and they are protected by 'copyright' laws. If they attack our computers with their viruses, we should have the right to take their cure for free. This is just like the US selling Iraq WMD, then attacking the country because they had WMD. Scumbag 'anti'-virus companies!
