Malcom X quotes
"You can’t drive a knife into a man’s back nine inches, pull it out six inches, and call it progress."
"I believe there will ultimately be a clash between the oppressed and those doing the oppressing. I believe that there will be a clash between those who want freedom, justice and equality for everyone and those who want to continue the system of exploitation. I believe that there will be that kind of clash, but I dont think it will be based on the colour of the skin."
"Don't be in a hurry to condemn because he doesn't do what you do or think as you think or as fast. There was a time when you didn't know what you know today. "
"There is no better than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time. "
"You can't separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom. "
“The future belongs to those who prepare for it today”
“We are living in an era of revolution, and the revolt of the American Negro is part of the rebellion against oppression and colonialism which has characterized this era....It is incorrect to classify the revolt of the Negro as simply a racial conflict of Black against white, or as a purely American problem. Rather, we are today seeing a global rebellion of the oppressed against the oppressor, the exploited against the exploiter.”
“You can’t operate a capitalistic system unless you are vulturistic. You show me a capitalist, I’ll show you a bloodsucker.”
“No religion will ever make me forget the conditions of our people in this country, No God, no religion, no nothing will make me forget it until it stops, until it’s finished, until it’s eliminated. I want to make that point clear.”
"Without education, you are not going anywhere in this world."
"You're not to be so blind with patriotism that you can't face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or says it."
"Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery."
"Nobody can give you freedom. Nobody can give you equality or justice or anything. If you're a man, you take it."
"You can't separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom."
"We want freedom by any means necessary. We want justice by any means necessary. We want equality by any means necessary."
"Anytime you beg another man to set you free, you will never be free. Freedom is something that you have to do for yourself."
"Usually when people are sad, they don't do anything. They just cry over their condition. But when they get angry, they bring about a change."

"It doesn't mean that I advocate violence, but at the same time, I am not against using violence in self-defense. I don't call it violence when it's self-defense, I call it intelligence."
It is criminal to teach a man not to defend himself, when he is the constant victim of brutal attacks. It is legal and lawful to own a shotgun or a rifle. We believe in obeying the law."
"How can you thank a man for giving you what's already yours? How then can you thank him for giving you only part of what is yours?"
"Truth is on the side of the oppressed."

To be honest i never really was intothis guy, he came across to me as very racist. I kno that might sound weird, but he was very anti-white for a long time. Now if we had republicans who were anti-protestant we would look down on them for being sectarian and acting the sam way as those who they are struggling against. I see this in Malcom X,well certainly in a section of his life anyway.

I never really felt he was racist from the speeches iv heard of him. I think he used a sort of marxist look on things. Like when he speaks about "the field negro", that could be replaced by proletariat or working class, "house negro" the petty bourgeoisie and " the white man" the bourgeoisie - and it makes complete sense. You should have a listen to the speeches "message to the grass roots" and "house negro vs field negro" (though maybe they are the same speech im not sure because people break them up).
The thing i didnt like was his use of religion, other than that I like him.

I had the same thoughts about him as RedFlag for a while. When I watched 'Malcom X - Make it Plain' I didn't like what I saw until the end of the film but I think when he talks about the 'white man' he is referring to the police, army and the parasites not necessarily the man living down the street.
He did start to get very progressive after, as RM says, his trip to Mecca and being such a powerful speaker he opened many people's eye - even today. I think his older speeches were a little flawed but as he got older and more progressive, he started to make some very interesting points as you can see above.
