Is it just me or do Anarchists put too much attentin on attending pickets or anti-war protests ect and not enough on organising the working class? For me this is a glaring difference between republican socialists and Anarchists, the republican socialists put more attention into showing the people how to organise through unions or community groups while Anarchists seem to prefare the picket line. Am i wrong to assume this?

I wouldnt know to be honest. For the membership of the WSM they do a hell of a lot it seems in terms of making themselves known and having a high profile - (as of 2002 the membership of the WSM was 13) - which is excellent for its small size. Gregor Kerr is also a union activist for the teachers union.
Some anarchist group there have been taking over empty buildings and turning them into community halls and centres.
The only group that strikes a chord when you speak of anti-war protests etc are the SWP, theyr very "protesty" ;D
It comes down to membership and age of quantity of membership in many ways too. Anarchists would tend to have alot of young members I assume, who would be in college or even school - and are not members of any unions. Republicans would, again with my assumptions, have a hell of alot of more members and with a higher average age - so they would be adults in the workplace and are members of unions, and therefore engage in more union activities. That would be my reasoning behind it if it were true.
And also their tactics, culture and "outlook" would be different. Anarchists seem to put alot of time into the idea of "squatting" and occupation while socialists are sort of WTF?
Thats MO.

I once asked them what the point was of protesting events like the G8 - you're not going to reach the working class there, only the super-rich. you're not going to "shame" them into changing their policies, and for a revolutionary that's not desireable even if it was achievable. We want to mobilise the masses. So why don't they just organise within the class?
They never seem to get my meaning ...
