I think Cuba is socialist, but like it has been said; the fact Cuba has fought an uphill battle against the USA's intervention and agression in Latin America, the responce to this has been a hardline to outside or counter-revloutionary influence. The DPRK since Kim Jong Il took office as general secritary has been a prime example of how socialism can be manipulated by someone. The DPRK is not socialist. China has had it's ups and downs and it actually redirecting itself back to Maoist thought. The USSR was Socialist , I think under Kruschev it started to become sate capitalism, it shifed back then near the end of Brezhnev it slide down hill completely into shit. Kruschev's irrationality and Brezhnev's corruption stuck the rusty dagger in the heart of the worker's republic. Gorbechev bleed it dry and Yeltsin just shit all over it. Putin to me is a joke, but if he atleast stays apposed to the EU Russia has a chance. It is interesting that the Russian people themselves are demading a return to socialism and a direct participation in the government. I think the grassroot movements of today such as Bolivarianism have given Socialism a new method and has given the people of the world a new hope. Socialism should exist as direct participation of the people. The People and the State are one in the same.
