Statement by Gerry Adams at Sinn Fein's Dublin Ard Fheis. "Undoubtedly there are some who believe that the IRA has made a mistake. "They are entitled to their opinion but to no more than that," he said. I always want solidarity to be shown between all Republican groupings regardless of the political differences. But Mr Adams believes he is God Almighty over who can say or do what. Wrong, he does not speak for all people. I think a lot of people will be annoyed with this statement. Yes, the IRA have made a mistake albeit they have been taken over by Sinn Fein along with British moles and sold out. Given over the vast majority of their guns for destruction, while the British still remain ever present.

Yes, the IRA have made a mistake albeit they have been taken over by Sinn Fein along with British moles and sold out. Given over the vast majority of their guns for destruction, while the British still remain ever present. The Provisional movement uses the fact that they gave the British the best any republican army could give them and yet still they couldn't get rid of them as a reason why we should all realize that armed struggle was tried and didn't succeed. But was it really the best that the Provo's could do?from very early on jerry had decided on the political route only,Although the armed campaign went on for a long time i think allot of it was only token gestures to the grassroots supporters to keep them on-board.The Provo's had the best secret army in Europe, massive money and capabilities to be still fighting the British to this day,i personally don't think the Provo's armed struggle wasn't capable of achieving more, and it was one mans determination to go down the political route solely that made it unsuccessfull. Thats not to say i agree with armed struggle today, allot has changed since the 70's,I believe the Irish people have the right to have arms and defend themselves, but i also think that a political route will be crucial in creating any kind of united Ireland, the main problem i have with the provisional movement is the handing over of arms, they got fuck all in return! The only reason people think the Provo's were wrong to Carry out there armed campaign is the fact that the people of Ireland taught the end would justify the means, that is not the case,It was obvious from very early on that they were going to give up,so what was the need of token bombs? If your going to fight the British then fight them to the end, your courage and determination will shine through for centuries and a new breed of republicans will see that and continue the fight, its the fact that the Provo's were, from very early on,talking about deals with the British and that the killing of many civilians was in vain that will put there campaign in a different light!
