pan-celticism (which RSF seem to support) is petite bourgeois and basically reactionary imo. some of their goals of the celtic league are worthwhile imo, like the work on the languages that they do. they also have the left wing peter b. ellis as a member. But one of their founders and a long time president (who lived in Dublin) was a member of the Breton SS in WWII and according to his own accounts, he helped the nazis hunt town, torture and kill resistance fighters.
remember that this guy was in a military unit similiar to the black n tans - ultraviolent political police types. he wasn't a person who was conscripted or something. He thought that Brittany would become its own state after the WWII by faithfully serving the Nazis.
Though I have no hostility to the efforts to keep Breton culture alive (in fact I have an interest in it), is Breton seperatism really progressive? are they truly oppressed by the French? it's hard to see how, but I'm not saying I know what the sitauiton is, just inquiring.
