Lisbon Treaty Re-run: The Facts
Has Lisbon been changed anyway since we rejected it?
No: Not one single word or letter has been altered.
Will any other countries get to Vote on Lisbon?
No: Only Ireland has been permitted a referendum.
Charlie Mc Creevy EU Commissioner for the Internal Market and Services stated that, All of the Polititians of Europe would have known that if Lisbon had been put to their electorate in a referendum the answer in 95% of countries would have been NO.
But doesn't Lisbon Protect Workers Rights?
No: Lisbon will further concrete a race to the bottom by encouraging the use of cheap labour.
The EU recently ruled in favour of Swedish Company Laval, who wanted to use low paid Latvian workers at their plants in Sweden. This resulted in skilled Swedish workers being out of a job as Latvian workers could be brought in and paid the minimum wage.
Will Lisbon be beneficial in the areas of Health and Education?
NO: Article 188c would allow Health, Education and Social Services to be operated as private businesses by removing the vetoon trade in these services.
Articles 16 and 115 would also give the EU new powers to say how governments run public services.
Would Lisbon increase the security of member states?
NO: Article 188R states that member states would be obliged to assist any other member states that are the victims og armed aggression.
This undermines Irish Neutrality!
Doesn't Lisbon contain Plans to tackle Climate Change?
No: The Lisbon Treaty's contribution to the environment is to add 6 words "promoting measures, to deal with environmental problems and in particular combatting climate change (Art 174.1 TFEU) This is purely symbolic and adds no new powers.
The Yes side argues that Lisbon Strenghtens our position in Europe, Is this True?
NO: Under the Lisbon Treaty Irelands say in Europe will decrease by 2% to 0.8% significantly weakening our overall position within the EU.
The Yes side claims Lisbon will not affect Ireland's stances on the minimum wage, taxation, abortion and other areas: Is this True?
NO: Aritcle 6 of the 28th amendmant of the Constitution Bill (Lisbon Referendum) and in declaration (17) concerning primacy where it is noted that in accordance with well settled case law adopted by the Union on the basis of the treaties have primacy over the lawof member states under the conditions laid down by the said case law. In other words EU law over rules Irish Law!
People Died for your Freedom, Don't throw it away!
The Lisbon Treaty is a Bad deal for Ireland.
That is why it was rejected! Despite this the Yes side and the European Elite are using bully boy tactics to ratify this unwanted treat.
On October 2nd make sure this government understands that NO means NO.
Pass this to all ur friends and help spread the word!
