Here are some pics from the march in town today - www.indymedia.ie/article/91219Personally I agree with these guys for a start: Seriously though, what the hell is a March on a Saturday going to do about making any progress towards securing jobs and lowering stealth taxes on worker's wages? I mean they can walk through Dublin every Saturday for 10 years and nothing will happen. The unions involved in the ICTU are a bigger help to the Government than they are to the workers. They are a bigger help to capitalism than socialism. The unions should be shutting down the country as a starting point and get tougher from there. They should be making the Government sh** their pants. A Saturday stroll is a waste of time. The ICTU are in bed with the Government and cannot show leadership to the working class.

I couldnt agree with you more. I was there yesterday and what a complete waste of my time. Im fed up of these marches - the health march, bin-tax march, anti war march, Irish ferries march etc.
The government in their sound insulated offices just ignore them.
Its a way for the unions to get people to vent off their anger and to get the ordinary person who still buys into "freedom of speech" and all that to feel like they are doing something.
Thats the thing. They arnt doing something. Marching dosnt change crap. They think it does though. From all the marches iv been on, they havnt done nothing.
If they stormed government offices and burnt out a few cop cars like they do on the continent - then your looking at something.
Im thinking very strongly about never going to these type of marches again. Call it burnout! (them and the meetings organised by the SP and SWP)
The internet is more entertaining!

Well said comrade. I agree. I was going to go out to the March myself but I thought 'what's the bloody point', 'what's it going to change, hardly anything if anything'. I'm all for storming Government offices ;D but I would love to see the country shut down for Monday to Wednesday, that would really make the fat cats take a *gulp*! you won't see it under SIPTU I'm sure. I've dealt with trade unionists that make David Begg look like Bill Gates and I think if these people had a bigger platform they could start a revolution or at least incite one.
Perhaps we could write up a 10 step programme to making Government take notice of the workers and send it to ICTU offices. See what kind of reactionary, cowardly response we get back.
