Just wondering if anyone caught his interview on RTE the other night? I remember him being on (I think it was) QandA a few weeks back and he spoke about how he'd like to see a truely progressive left-wing organisation in power (a contradiction in my view) but it did shed light on his politics.
In the interview last night he was asked about his support for Sinn Fein during the height of the Long War (AKA the 'troubles' because it was just a little bit of trouble in the North. Nothing to worry about, the British Government will sort those who are ruining it for everyone else you know) and he spoke about his part in the struggle for 'fairness' and 'equality'. As far as I could gather he considers himself to be a Republican but i would think a very left leaning Republican probably close to our own political outlook. I doubt he would be a supporter of SF today for instance. I would be interested in learning more about his politics as a relatively high profile person.
