I wonder if organisations like the IRSP, or even eirigi, would 'fit in' with such an alliance.
I think the IRSP is looked down upon in a sort of snooty way by these - not least because its nowhere near organised enough in the south. You also have the "terrorism" bit.

The left in Ireland is elitist and reformist. Their ignorance in relation to republicans shows this up clearly. The idiots would have more time for PSF now that they have been tamed, and they are a part of the state these people supposedly want to smash. I have no problem with parties like the SP or SWP objecting to armed wings. But surely, from their own perspective, the right thing to do would be to try and influence the republican left away from militarism by encouraging it to be more involved with political work they do. Shunning socialist republicans who have an armed wing will not progress the working class struggle one bit.

Glossing over all of the bickering between SWP and SP members on Indymedia there one must beg the question, instead of rejecting the proposals would they not attempt to renegotiate an arrangement? Now I recognise that those doing the bickering may not be the decision makers in the party but if they are socialist they should at least have an equal voice should they not?
I would agree with RF32. I would only hope that another revolutionary socialist organisation could grow to the size of the SWP or SP and lead by example by entering into discussions, trying to educate the other side and attempting to develop a communal strategy instead of having reaction after reaction between parties.
I do not understand why 2 socialist parties cannot get along. It's a disgrace and ,even more than that, a very bad example they are setting for younger members and the working class in general.

The idiots would have more time for PSF now that they have been tamed, and they are a part of the state these people supposedly want to smash. You hit the nail on the head. You'd think that even if they disliked republicans for this or that reason, they'd at least see them as 'useful idiots' who could play a role in destabilising the state's rule. Their strategies are diametrically opposed to a revolutionary one which must confront the state.
