A Irish soldier from the 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish Regiment has been killed in an explosion while on a routine foot patrol in southern Afghanistan. Northern Irish First Minister Peter Robinson said he was shocked and saddened by the death. "We owe a great debt of gratitude to him and the young people who are fighting to build peace and stability in Afghanistan and protect us from the threat of international terrorism. The people of Northern Ireland will be deeply saddened to hear of his death and I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sympathy to his family and his colleagues who continue to fight in Afghanistan." news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7598896.stm

I think it's sad that brainwashed working class soldiers have to die fighting so that Imperialist parasitical Governments can make billions from plundering the wealth and resources of foreign countries. This was not this soldier's struggle, it was the struggle of the imperialist who used said soldier as a sheild and a tool to do their dirty work. The Government put out articles in local and national news papers, colleges, basically anywhere they can reach the youth glorifying the British Army and how great it is. But the death of this soldier shows how horrific it can be. We shouldn't be fighting for the British or Irish Governments, we should be fighting these Governments so that we can take control of our affairs, stop buying over priced housing and slowly leading ourselves into poverty. It is a sad day that any soldier has to die for the British Government. A Government who leach off normal decent people. It is also a sad day also when soldiers are fighting their brothers and sisters on foreign soil for the same Government. Peter Robinson is a twat!

To think that this chap died for these gangsters in suits, and for their wealth. Without the rank and file, Iraqi and Afghani children wouldnt be getting slaughtered though. Its difficult to have sympathy for the likes of him.
