I'm not one to dance on people's graves. Sad news about his death (and a bit of a shock I must say) but we're not going to start a thread about how great the man was now are we? He was no Ian paisley but he obviously made a good living out of helping to oppress the working people of this island. Call me insensative if you must.

Ah well, he was a good politician. He served the country and people well, and was much loved in his constituency and done great work throughout his distinguished and varied political career while in and out of office, up until the very end. All his collegues had great respect and admiration for his work and charismatic character. Truely a sad day for Ireland, its almost like losing, say, ten thousand heroine addicts combined, or a couple of hundred homeless, its of that scale.

Suprised to see this news myself, only discovering it now, was in Poland last week not much info of Ireland over there, except that the tv stations are calling us the black sheep of Europe, Brennan was one of a few who are the best of the bad bunch. RIP

The best of a bad bunch is still bad. The best of a capitalist bunch is still capitalist. His life and fortune, along with the rest of the Government, was built on the misfortune of working people in this country.
Just because he is softly spoken, keeps his head down and works behind the scenes, we're supposed to thank him for it? He still sat in his lavish office, took government cars, used his ill-gotten expense account, involved himself in exploiting markets for gain and took his fat pay cheque at the end of the month while the working class are forced to endure 3rd world health care, traffic jams, road tolls, stamp duty, high fuel prices, homeless deaths on the streets, deaths and virus' in the hospitals and drug wars. I bet the aforementioned never affect Seamus Brennan!
