Ill call a victory now.
The results are indicating a NO.
Europe are saying they are going to ratify it anyway in the other states.

Tbh I dont know if its a victory for the left. The elites will push their agenda through one way or another.
I dont think the people voted No because they understood the treaty or its consequences, but rather a combination of kicking the FF government up the ass and general euroscepticism.
The treaty itself wasnt a left right divide, so it could equally be said to be a victory for the right.
Im glad anyway. I dont want to see a EUSSR as someone called in on P.ie.

The fact that European elites are saying they're going to push it through anyway (whilst not surpising) has got British broadcasters asking questions about supposed democracy Europe. This is a good thing as I'm sure it will trickle down to the working class around Britain and Ireland.
Good to see there was a no vote but the fact that the Governments hate democracy coupled with the fact that they have vast tools (media, police, army) to control the public mind leads me to believe that they will find a way to fool voters and pass it again. If this treaty passes (at any time) we won't have the opportunity to have a referendum on any future treaties. This is the only chance we have to save democracy as democracy is getting in the way of what the elites call 'progress'.

Without a doubt, they will find some way, to push this back on us again, maybe in about 6 months when the dust settles, they will find some legal jargon and water a mini version down. It was a great victory for the people, to let these over paid snobby, buerocrats, know that, we really have the power, for the moment at least.
Now we will see how much, Cowen really cares about his people and Ireland, will he bow to them in Brusells with a red face or will he stand tall and represent us, which is what he is paid thousands a week to do.

They say they're going to find a way that we can keep our commissioner and have a veto on the tax situation. But we would still be voting not just for the treaty but the amendment to our constitution that says the EU can over-rule our democratic decisions, we would still be voting for more funding to military 'defense' (in other words money towards world wars and building the EU economy through war and leveling other countries so we can steal their resources calling it oil for food (that we've taken away) or something). I think we should discuss some sort of anti-Lisbon treaty 2 campaign. What would people here think?
