Mictchell: Libertas funded by CIA...

Fine Gael TD Gay Mitchell has accused the group, Libertas, of being funded by the CIA. In a radio interview last week Mr. Mitchell attacked Libertas calling them sly and surreptitious and repeatedly made references to the group being funded by the US Central Intelligence Agency. He pointed out that the group was spending €1.3m on their 'NO' to Lisbon campaign which, he said, is more than Fine Gael, Fianna Fail and Labour put together. Weather these accusations are designed to hinder support for the group or weather their is truth to his accusations, at this point, is unclear.

I was listening to that interview the other day, supprised with the yanks i was under the impression that they would have favoured a yes vote.

Id say the US would want a divided europe of small states which they can bully and control. The last thing theyd want is another superpower capable of rivaling them. I heard RBB say that military spending of the entire EU is greater than the US - and the uS is by far the biggest military spender.

The US spent $1 trillion on the war in Iraq so far. This despite the fact that millions are homeless and hungry in their homeland. The death count from the war in Iraq surpassed 1.2million last year. Jaysus only knows what it is now. Horrible. War is big business for Govenments.
