In the U.S.S.R. the revolution ended up being betrayed and ended up not as a true socialist country but as state capitalism; although some peeps call it a degenerate workers state. We are fighting for socialism in a class war way - to end the minority elite living of the wealth the majority i.e. the working class produce, and which is extrapolated/stolen by the capitalists as surpluis value. In the u.s.s.r. they sort of still had a class system, as the people in power and the brearecrats got more than the average worker, so it was not really a classless society. Also their political life ended up with the takeover of the soviets - worker's councils - by the main party, and a lot of 'proper' socialists and anarcho-communists were killed or imprisioned or expelled. Hopefully, the socialism of the future will be more democratic, with peeps that really represent us, and are recallable.
sorry this is not a very good answer, but i left school at 12 or 13 but just taught myself things from books, but i thought its better to post something than nothing lol.
and i'm sure comrades will soon correct for me any mistakes i might make slan

Greetings from Reno, NV. I was always an admirer of Connolly and Larkin. What are your relations (if any) with the unfortunately- named CPGB? Paul

Good to see you on here comrade.
We would support any revolutionary party and the CPGB have given some much needed support to the cause of working class Ireland over the years. I think the IRSP would have a closer relationship with the CPGB than we would but we would certainly support any party whose aim is liberation, education and participatory flat structure democracy.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help support the Starry Plough Initiative.

Starry Plough is an initiative set up in order to educate normal people about Irish Republicanism and the importance of international socialism as a grouping of Irish Republican ideology. We also endeavour to help build a wider and more solid community of republicans on the internet and use the internet as a functional and constructive tool of communication between republican groupings and international freedom organisations worldwide. With the long war coming to ahead in Ireland and the apparent lack of support for armed struggle among the majority of normal working people, we now have a chance sit down, discuss and re-asses the republican struggle in it’s entirety, the past problems we’ve had and the future of radical republican politics. Through the Starry Plough web site we hope to achieve the formation and organisation of a radical republican community dedicated to the formation of a 32 county Socialist Republic. A Republic based on the needs of normal working people and the end to elitist politics in Ireland. Peace and justice for all. Tíocfaidh ár lá! I think I am a normal working class person and support armed struggles lol. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am far from normal and that yes I do "support" armed struggle.

I'm with "until Victory 32." Not quite normal..but I am so passionate for the Northern Irish to throw England off their Island. And to win the freedom the working class people there deserve. I come as a student..willing to learn anything I can to help me understand what went so wrong the past hundred years of your history. Any comments I make will come from all the research I've done in the past 20 years.. Please accept them as the ramblings of an American..who can't really know what you have all had to live with. I wish you well.
