...the 'right time to put it to bed'? There was never a more important time to keep it going. If the person who wrote that understands the republican ideal one bit they would be trying to start publishing more e-magazines like it.
Very sad day if it's true.
I don't see anything on the blanket site to back this up by the way. *odd*

Organised Rage - 'an anglo-Irish and EU blog' sounds very reactionary to me. The EU, as it exists today, is just a union of capitalism. Why even mention the EU, why not the global ideal as the left wing usually does? Why limit the ideal to the EU, especailly in today's world.

The guy who wrote the article said he used to write for 'The Blanket' and knows the two people who set it up. I dont see anything myself of the site to say its shutting down. Was it printed? - or was it just an online magazine? (as of late seeing as they didnt have computers back then when it started). Strange

Very well said, it should be catagorised as it is a union of capitalistism, that ibec crowd care about economics more than humans went to another meeting about this last night, i'm becoming an expert on this, nearly know all the text back to front, (yeah right) well inanyway Garret Fitzgerald was the main speaker for the yes, and Richard Boyd Barrett was for the no, and the people before profit alliance, i ended up putting up a few posters for him, which i was glad to do, the debate was heated at times and fitzgerald was threatnend by the Wexford fishermen, with not getting out of a certain village in one piece if he turned up to try to appease them, there was some big snob from ibec who tried to set Barrett up, but he was well able for him, it appears from what i heard many people are against this and it must have been 50/50,

Yeah i live in Wex, it is a very historical and political town, there are always meetings of one thing or another, I think G.F is 81 years old or someting like that, and he was a good talker was well able to keep going without being interupted, but i would call him an ignorant whore for trying to push a yes, and he was good at side stepping questions i missed that interview on the news but i was present when they done seperate interviews for youtube see can you locate them, don't know when they will be available for viewing,

Wexford is a lovely town, I was there earlier this year. Love the way the train tracks are exposed along the docks/keys. Nice Another guy 'Redstar1916' who's on the internet in other forums is from wexford county too.

It's unique alright the way the train crosses the main road without a level crossing, then all the way up the quay, one lad at that meeting last night came down from Dublin on the train, when he got a chance to put questions to RBB or GF the 1st thing he done was complained about the time it took the train to get here, it's 45 minutes quicker in the car,

That's one thing about Richard Boyd Barret though, he's seen it all and he knows the working class inside out so I'd say it would be very hard (for anyone) to trick the man, let alone someone who only has money on their mind! I tell ya one thing, with the effort the right wing (FF, PD, FG, Labour (Oh yes I did! ;D )) are putting in to try and get a 'yes' vote out of this I'd say the vote will also be 50/50. The only problem with Ireland is those who don't agree with how the country is run or don't like who's running the show or are confused about the vote, often don't bother voting. I think this is a big problem for the 'no' camp. On the original issue of the Blanket - I saw another story on Nuzhound.com that it will be shutting down

To tell the truth i never heard of R.B.B until the other night, i might have come heard of his name but never really looked into what he was about, he came across as a sound bloke, and i admired him for his stance, and knowledge on everything, that i would be for, hope my last post did not come across as anti Dublin, as i am more of a jackeen than a culchie, i am not from here, originally Bray i was more reffering to the transport between the two counties, and apologies for bringing this treaty onto the subject of another thread i never heard of the blanket either, other than it usually refers to the hunger strike
