Very few points fill me with enough zest to make me want to illustrate them, but this is one. I dont know if any comrades have much experience of the planters homeland, and if so if this point has been raised before then I apologise. For those of you who know what Im referring to, then you already know that with the exception of the occupied 6 counties, or desolated satellite territories there is no place left where the imperalist banner of crosses (the union jack) is flown with any gusto. This point to me, seems to take the wind out of unionist sails. It shouts the praises of a country that does not even want to exist. The UK is tearing itself at the seams, from the inside out. How else do you explain the rise of nationalist parties such as the SNP and Plaid Cymru? In fact, I challenge you to ask an Englishman, Welshman or by in large a scotsman what nationality he considers himself first. Only on occasion will they say 'British' To add insult to injury, Norn Iron is like the joke nation of the 4. With its people enjoying inferior living standards and wages, It is the economic runt of the litter. It has bore the brunt of a UK's euro scepticism, and has missed out on the 'celtic tiger' phenomenon which has brought comparitive prosperity to the rest of the Island. The 6 counties and the grotesque entity known as 'orangism' is like the drunk at the party who everyone wishes would get their coat. With the exception of the minority of Scottish orange lodges, The Great Britainers found them (the western britainers) amusing for a while but know most of them just wish theyd take their leave, much like Hong Kong. Go on little Orangeman, keep banging that drum. No one is interested, least of all your fellow 'countrymen'.

I find it odd that scot-irish would even want to celebrate a union of which their homeland was joined to a new not Stuart controlled england. william of Orange the duke of hanover and his Saxony gang re asserted wankerish authority over a (for once since 500ad) fully celtic nation. Scots brandishing a union jack and saying it's a union is as crazy as a bum with a "the end is near" sign. Fuck anyone who is a unionist. I guess they just forgot they were celts and not anglo-saxon bitches.

absoluely. The irony that culturally, the unionist community of the north are 10 times more akin to their southern neighbours than to their UK masters never ceases to amaze me.

its got a lot to do with a lost identity and lack of working class representation. basicly unionists are stuck in the middle of a union that dosent want them and a republic which sees them as ememies. protestants have had no working class struggle for 40 odd years and they're clinging to the only thing they think they have got.
Please think about this! if they stand on the unionist side what do they see on the repuiblician side as an option?
ANSWER:
a: the schizophrenic politics of nationalist ireland that pronounces them both irish brothers and foreign invading pawns of the british state.
b: a nationalism as potent, angry, malevolent and puritan in its political ideology as british nationalism.
c: a huge base of socialist support that dosent give a dam about protestant working class
d: a huge base of socialist support that has been at best apathetic and at worst overtly aggressive towards working class protestants
e: an arguement and plea to join their southern comrades that is always (in their view) spiked with an attack!
f: that any cultural link of friendship with the english who many feel a kinship with is in no way allowed within the confines of irish unity and that any english person is inferior scum and probably a mudering fascist
g: they are either viewed as fools who dont even realise that they are really just misguided, subjugated lesser irishmen in thrall to the british government, even though it must be obvious to all that they are very fustrasted with their position
h: or that they are all immigrants taking advantage and they should "go home" even if they did come here300 -500 years ago. (this point is especially ironic for republican irish americans!)
instead of offering to stand by the people of northern ireland who lose out on the status of being in the union, you've kind of just said
"ha ha ha, you have crap wages and poor living standards and no one cares!" the reply "nice one" firmly cements the aggressiveness of the statmenet. then after reading why ulster protestants should see the truth of their situation and come into a united ireland "herensuge" gives a big FUCK YOU, and finally we end on the irony that this is all directed towards people who have ten times more in common with you that the state they are loyal to.
statements like "I guess they just forgot they were celts and not anglo-saxon bitches." to me just smacks of ideas of racial purity, xenophobia, bigotry and some sort of bizarre idea of nationalist socialist racial purity!
are your true motives nationalist aggression or are they finding a way to a socialist ireland.
COME ON, PLEASE!!!!! i think you would find that if republicans and nationalists would just open the door and reach out a hand, there are many unionists and protestants who would be more that willing to come in from the cold! hell there are even some banging at the door!
