I was just wondering what peoples opinions would be on a united Britian and Ireland under socialism,I personally think it would be a great idea as if the two countries economies were combined i think we could really make socialism work for us and not be subject to international economic pressure.I think if we make it clear that our aim is to unite britian and Ireland through socialism that it would attract more attention from the people who identify with britian currently, they might see the fight for socialism in Ireland and NI as a stepping stone to a united Britian and Ireland under socialism, that way everybody is happy,we get socialism and the people who identify with britian can continue to do so.
Please post your views,id be very interested to hear what fellow comrades think!

I think the first thing that needs to happen for this would be the destruction of capitalist governmental structures in Britain and Ireland and the destruction of the British Monarchy. Only then can we begin to think of about the unity of the working class of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland without fear of a powerful Capitalist intervention. Let's not forget that Britain is currently one of the largest Imperialist forces in the world and the ruling classes of Britain (as well as the US and Europe) aren’t going to let that slip away easily.
I think the accomplishment of Communism, a world phenomenon incorporating Britain and Ireland, would be the ultimate plan for socialists as it (true communism and not the US Government idea of it) is the most humane and peaceful social structure imaginable, it would create developmental think tanks everywhere and bring the human race so much further than we are currently are. But many conditions have to be created for this to happen. Communism is only international. It cannot be created within a country and certainly not under one party dictatorship.
