Please give your suggestions and a reason why you think we should study it as a group!

Read, study and dialogue the following book on "The Degradation of Work in the Twentieth Century" Labor and Monopoly Capital by Harry Braverman. A compelling look at the elimination of the skilled worker, in the 20th Century and the relationship between technology and its impact on the various social classes. The book was written by and is from the perspective of a tradesman/skilled worker who later became a publisher and editor of various Union Trade Publications (Editor of The Monthly Review). I read L & MC, about 20 years ago, and it left a PROFOUND impact on me. Braverman bases his analysis on his experience (through the early 1970s). His analysis is uncanny as it is insightful of our current day issues. Braverman's 1970’s forces, becomes his unintentional forecast into our 21st Century. Comrades, If you choose to pass on Braverman as a group, I strongly suggest reading L&MC in your on time. IT IS POWERFUL! The downsides of my suggestion: 1.) I am pretty sure L&MC is still in print BUT difficult to find. (See link below, for purchase info) 2.) Book price maybe too high for some - $20.00 was the cheapest available price, I could find. (Larger City and County Libraries may have a copy or two, available to borrow) Let me know what you think and feel free to email all comments, questions and suggestions. book link - www.monthlyreview.org/labormon.htmMy email, irshgrl500@sbcglobal.net In solidarity, Karin/Kat

Your suggestion is noted, and i think its best if we allow the first study topic to be finished before we look at the next. Thank you for posting and hopefully we can take a look at your suggestion in the near future.

It seems that the study group on left wing communism has ground to a halt. The problem in my own opinion is that while it was a vital document it is one the content on which we all agreed on generally and so it never was going to generate many different opinions. I think if people are up for it we should start another group on something which is a little more contreversal.

Sorry for the late reply on this. I would like to discuss the Ta Power Doc, as I'm sure many people on the board would, but I haven't read it all yet. Maybe we could get those who have expressed interest previously involved also?

It is quite hard to qualify such competitive test but proper guidance as well as access to right study material is required. I also used the Best LSAT Prep Course for my preparations. It truly helped me to crack the test with really high score so I recommend this test to others too.
