racist conservatives run the government, they have the money and the guns to keep all the little sheep in line... but its not like most of the people here really care, as long as they can watch american idol, buy more material goods and keep consuming meaningless garbage that they are brainwashed into thinking they absolutely need, why should they care about things like WAR, and GOVERNMENT, and all this "Boring" stuff that "doesnt matter"..... the television says mexicans are bad, and these immigrants are terrible, so people just believe it, and dont ask any questions..
its quite sad. people here are so brainwashed that they believe anything the media says, and if you question the government, or the capitalist system that runs things, you are somehow "anti-american" and unpatriotic... blind faith, and they dont even know, or care, why. but thats not to say there arent alot of intelligent people who are opposed to these things, its just that the ratio is so small of people who care, and people who could really give a shit whats happening in their names....

so you'd say that the situation in the USA is due to the fact that the fat cats dominate culture and establish the limits of debate, distract the public and so on. Gramsci argued the same thing. I'd say there's definitely some truth in it.
I'd also add that we're living in a period both of capitalist decline and reaction from the collapse of most of the socialist bloc.
the good news is that this isn't like the 1980's were in the USA. There's a lot of organising and resistance going on.

Top that off with people forget that their families were immigrants too or they simply go overboard with their own history and all else are no good. The union brothers and sisters of mine ( shop steward ) are mostly unaware of how unions were formed. Should say by whom. Mention socialism and the eyes start popping out since their the enemy right? Yeah the whole socialist/communist definition and that's all they hear. Archie Bunker syndrome.
The one good thing to come out of the Iraq invasion is people actually started questioning if their representatives, that are on a mighty long leash, were really listening or acting prpoerly on their behalf. Those that spoke out were ridiculed, put on a new " list " and as stated unAmerican. I always had fun with that word on the cb... American. I loved asking the bigots which America?
Absoutely agree with the distraction factor that can be seen anywhere, hell the roads ( where I live anyway ) are plastered with billboards, radio, planes flying banners behind regularly, television is a joke ( boob tube ), etcetera, etcetera. Ahh, I'm rambling aren't I ? Anyway from conversations I have had with people is that everyone should come through the front door legally and those in the back are obviously here for nefarious reasons. Be it taking jobs, stressing the healthcare system and/or just plain old enemies of the state. Hmm, organize them, healthcare for everyone ( socialize ), newslash.. stop picking on everyone worldwide and there will be no threat. Well it would decrease dramatically. Don't they have camera tracking systems set up on the Arizona border now? Rambling again, I need more coffee.. have a good one.
