I heard you can get Starry Plough flags in Connolly books but I'm not sure how true this is. The Sinn Fein shop have them too I think. I'd love to get a red one myself. If you find out anything give me a shout, cheers

The Original Starry was Green with a yellow trim. That was used by the ICA and is still used by SIPTU today. The IRSM have a blue one with whites stars and a red one with white stars. The red is a bit more symbolic as it's the working class colour.

What's with the Blue background on the Starry Plough? I've never seen that before and granted I haven't been to see it in the National Museum. I've always seen the green one. www.irishclans.com/flags/plough.html

I've always seen the green one. www.irishclans.com/flags/plough.htmlI read in a connolly book that the original was blue?heres what it says, In 1954,O'casey presente the original design of the flag referred to in his letter to carney, to the national museum of Ireland. In a letter to the director of the national museum, O'casey pointed out that the original flag was oblong, much longer in it's lenght than it's width, bordered by red/brown tracing with a frill fringe of deep and dark yellow, probably meant to be orange. The field was blue. In the same letter, O'casey said that it was AE who suggested the design to Capt. Jack White and Countess Markievics and that Mr Megahy,a teacher of art in Galway technical school, drew the design for the flag. O'casey recalled how disapointed the citizen army men were that the colour wasn't green instead of blue.
