I try and avoid the word black and use 'coloured'. But generally its not an offensive word to use 'black' as far as I know. Coloured? Isnt that more offencive? As far as i know they dislike that term very much. There not coloured,there black. If i was talking about a blakc man who lived in america i would probably say afro-american, but if not id say black,because thats what they are,same as we are white. Am i being really racist? |

I'd say 'this american fella'. Why refer to his skin colour at all?  Seriously though. What if you were talking about a guy from Mexico or south America. Would you say that kind of tanned fella? I say lets cut out all this black, white, yellow rubbish and call us what we are - men and women damn it! ...and with our raised fist and and aging rifles we shall crush the evil capitalists and take back our economy and resources and build a democratic workers' republic - Onwards to victory comrades! |

Why mention the gender at all?  Id say afro-american if my point was specific to that race of people not if it wasnt. If the Mexican was living in Mexico id say Mexican,if he was living in America id probably say hispanic or latino-american. But i was talking about the slave trade and how it related to black/african slaves as apposed to white/irish slaves. I still dont see the ignorance in calling someone black in this context. How could you describe a person from africa who wasnt white? Agreed, Up the BNP  |
